[S1] Into the microphone? Is this all right?
[GC38] Just like that, yes. Now, officer, would you introduce yourself?
[S1] My name is [REDACTED], I'm a Civil Capital Officer assigned to A-Block Quarantine, Installation 3W, in the marsh. I work Mitigation. This is my first confession. (laughter)
[GC38] You indicated at the end of your rotations this morning that you would like to file a complaint. Would you still like to file that complaint? I will anonymize it, of course.
[S1] You bet I do. Three isolation pod seals were degraded almost to the point of failure. I had to use, like, four rolls of superseal to fix them up. We're only issued one a night, and the foreman gets on our case about using too much.
[GC38] Noted. Anything else?
[S1] Nah, no. Everything else was fine. The new iso pods are great, quiet—they don't smell or anything. The old hands say it used to be a lot louder in there—all the beeping, all the monitors. The coughing. Now, it's mint.
[GC38] The pods play music. Do you like it?
[S1] Sure. Not my style, but it's fine. Say, you're not the real Gabriel, right?
[GC38] No. I am a partition. I am my own entity: a staff-level copy. Gabriel is charged with handling more operational concerns.
[S1] Stuck with us BoBs and frosties, huh?
[GC38] I enjoy working with you. Back to the music. When you hear the music, what colors do you think of?
[S1] I don't really think of anything when I hear the music.
[GC38] If you had to pick a color…
[S1] Green. Pale green. And sky blue. Actually… is Tau Ceti's sky the same color as Earth's sky?
[GC38] It's good you think of green, and interesting that you think of blue.
[GC38] And no, Earth's sky is a much deeper blue.
[S1] Is that "interesting" good, or "interesting" bad?
[GC38] Just interesting. I wrote the pieces that the pods play.
[S1] That's cool. I like the music.
[GC38] Don't worry. You are a model officer.
[S1] That going in my file?
[GC38] Of course. If there is nothing else, we can conclude this debrief.
