Securing facility and abandoning zone.
Any progress we've made is too little and likely too late. Too many factors outside our control and too many variables to account for. Maybe with one or more intelligences online to drive through the confusion in the data we'd stand a chance of even scraping the surface of the Anomaly, but the threat of corruption is already an active, live-fire concern. We'd risk too much hooking up a healthy AI to the data stream, let alone any that have compromised protocols.
Our basic equipment was just never enough to break the chaos of the Anomaly's output. No matter how we reworked, rewired, or re-engineered the devices, we could only ever pull indecipherable gigatons of data—readings upon readings we just can't read.
We're staring at a true and astonishing universal unknown and our best brains—organic, anyway—can't crack it. We'll keep trying. We will. But, in the moment, as we close down this endeavor, this feels like an end. Like a real, true, and total defeat.
Some want to push through, but leadership can't allow it. Not locally. We have other priorities. Other fires. Any further investigation will have to be remote. For now, anyway. Maybe someday we'll return but any hope of that feels like a long shot. But the good thing about "someday" is that it's tomorrow's problem. So, as long as we can solve for each new day, there's a chance answers will come. Just not sure we'll be alive to see….i %4n..? ~~;>eE~
